Across five centuries:

a collaboration between masters.

Paolo Penko for Sandro Botticelli

A collaboration between masters: a capsule collection five centuries in the making; echoes of ancient harmony given physical form through the masterful hands of Maestro Paolo Penko.

A keen observer of the beauty around him, Paolo Penko created his Collezione Storica collection to pay homage to one of the greatest painters of the Florentine Renaissance: Sandro Botticelli.

Each piece of the collection was designed by Sandro Botticelli in the 15th Century; in the 21st, Paolo makes it possible for us to hold these timeless designs in the palm of our hand.

The “Primavera” Pendant

Primavera

1477-82

Follow Venus’ hand and Cupid’s arrow; your eyes will be directed toward one of the three graces. Around her neck is this 18kt gold pendant composed of two oak leaves, three pearls, a tormaline and a garnet in the center.

The “Pallade” Set

Pallas and the Centaur

1482

Pallas Athena, the goddess of wisdom and reason tames the beastly nature of the centaur. Adorning her breast are 8-leafed flowers hand crafted by Paolo Penko in Sterling Silver and 18k Gold; at their center garnet or iolite gemstones.

The “Medici Ring” Pendant

Pallas and the Centaur

1482

Inspired by “Pallas and the Centaur,” which is believed to have been commissioned by Lorenzo il Magnifico in 1482 as a wedding gift for his cousin, Lorenzo di Pierfrancesco de Medici. Adorning Pallas’ dress is one of the Medici’s devices: three overlapping diamond rings joined to form a triangle.

Drawing inspiration from this pattern, Paolo handcrafted the same design in 18kt gold and Sterling Silver. Iolite gemstones adorn each style; an element of texture is offered by the setato finish engraved around the circumference of each ring; setatura is a finishing technique used throughout the Florentine Renaissance to mimic the effect of spools of silk thread.

The “Dolce Firenze” Set

Inspired by the Medici’s device immortalized in Boticelli’s “Pallas and the Centaur,” Paolo Penko crafted his own interpretation of this harmonious shape as a tribute to his dolce Firenze, or sweet Florence.

A large Sterling Silver Pendant is adorned with three garnets, and embellished with Paolo Penko’s trademark penkatura finish. Smaller examples are hand crafted in solid 18kt Gold or Sterling Silver and feature scrolled engraving motifs in place of the penkatura finish.
