The Master’s Hand

Art and Artisanship

For the better part of a decade, we have worked with our collective of Master Artisans to craft custom artisanal heirlooms for our community of patrons in the United States and around the world. While our patrons have had the opportunity to admire the results of our artisans’ handiwork, we wanted to share more.

The Master’s Hand: Art and Artisanship is a curated experience that lifts the veil on the cultural, historical, and artistic contexts that afforded the development of Florence’s uniquely vibrant artisanal sector over the course of centuries.  It is an invitation to explore our nuanced perspective of this oftentimes overlooked aspect of Italy’s rich cultural patrimony.

In a focused, approachable, and inspiring full-day excursion, we guide our guests along the invisible pathways that connect Florence’s hidden artisanal workshops to its world-renowned museums, and lush and bountiful countryside.

The experience begins with a 2 - 2.5 hour-long private guided tour of a purposefully selected museum followed by an immersive visit of an artisan’s workshop. During the workshop visit, guests witness the history they learned about during their museum tour come to life before their eyes: pieces of jewelry are cast and engraved, books are bound, and micromosaics are composed according to methods consistent with those used to craft antique museum masterpieces.

Following a traditional Florentine lunch, guests are accompanied to one of our Destination Partners in the Tuscan countryside for a relaxing afternoon-long villa visit and wine tasting.
